Diabetic Foot Pain

Because diabetes can harm the nerves of the feet and slow down blood movement, foot pain can be common in diabetics. In actual fact, there are special shoes for diabetes patients that are designed to handle this pain. People who suffer from diabetes have hard joints, and will often lose blood due to the diminished clotting ability of the blood.

This means that injuries can mend much slower, and with diminished nerve function in the feet, diabetes sufferers’ can often have foot wounds without knowing it.

With more damage to insensitive feet, a person with diabetes might not be conscious that he/she requires taking antibiotic medications or apply certain gels to cure foot problems. And because blood circulation is blocked, wounds in the feet might not restore to health at all, leading to foot ulcers or gangrene. At this moment, amputation is the only treatment.

Diabetic foot ache is only the beginning of one's concerns, so handling it before it gets out of hand. Always check your feet for injuries and wash your feet daily with soap and warm water. Rinse your feet properly and dry it carefully.

If you find injuries or wounds, apply gel or antiseptic creams immediately, or talk to your diabetic physician regarding treatment regimes. You might also have to go through physical therapy to keep the feet muscles active. Such therapy might be costly, although some packages of health insurance for people suffering fro diabetes will include it.
